The Juliet Project is an improvisational exploration of the space between acting and dance. Marissa dives into her own self-identity using the veil of the iconic character,  William Shakespeare's Juliet. The evolving look, feel, and shape of this project are being explored with an openness to discovery. This showing is a serving as a bridge to begin a wider sharing process for Marissa's creative practice and work.

Marissa would like to express how grateful she is to have had the opportunity to share in such a safe creative space. With her fellow residency choreographers and through the guidance and support of Rosanna Gamson Marissa has found a herself flooded with a fulfilling and rich sense of community.

WORDS FROM MARISSA - About the Juliet Project

• I am trying to hook into something bigger than myself, while I am myself, through the archetype of Juliet.  
• Romeo and Juliet both live within me - I am using the voice and agency of Juliet to get my inner Romeo to be direct, concrete, and truthful. ​
  
• ​Though I anticipate it diving into many iterations of The Juliet Project throughout the course of my life, both for film and live performance, for this upcoming showing I aim to continue leaning into the space where acting and dance are one for me as a performer.
