Marissa Harumi Moses is steeped in a wide array of approaches to performance and embodiment practices. She has studied the space between voice, storytelling, channeled characterization, and somatic movement as a way to unveil the secret-self and unexpressed aspects of creative longing, and performance radiance.
PERFORMING ARTIST
Marissa feels most at home in the presence of other creative collaborators who respect and honor creative flow and integrity of craft. She longs to swim in the waters of creative ease and intimacy of connection in all ways. Her creative history has included a spectrum of experimental and concert dance, physical theatre, on camera storytelling, bodywork, energetic anatomy, and the art of relational intimacy.
EDUCATOR
Marissa's focus is currently on cultivating her practices as a mentor and facilitating guide to align embodied artistry via heart-centered leadership and expressive arts practices.
Marissa has worked as an educator and producing administrator in the arts for 19 years and has been a guest artist in the dance departments at CSULB and Scripps College, and CSULA. She worked cross-departmentally at Hussian College Studio LA as an adjunct faculty member for 5 years where she taught cross-departmentally and was asked to reimagine and implement Self-Care for Performers course curriculum for acting and dance majors respectively. She has been a core ballet instructor at LA Dance Connection, Artistic Director/Co-Owner of the former LA Arts Collective, and Founding Executive Director/Resident Movement Director of Fugitive Kind Theatre.

INDEPENDENT ARTIST
Marissa enjoys playing in the space between acting, dance, and the healing arts. She explores her creative voice through writing, solo work, private ceremony, and community practice. Her art is her life, and her life is her art - and sometimes she shares pockets of each with people interpersonally and/or publicly as a performance, act-of-bravery, or community offering. She believes in the healing power of story, voice, resonance, and body-based relational attunenment. She believes in the power of stillness, deep listening, expansive desire, and the magnetism of embodied presence. Marissa also is an advocate for getting into the practice of guiding oneself safely through life and structural patterns of societal conditioning via clarifying intentions, cultivating relational boundaries for access to safety in play, and sensing into somatic discernment for authentic living + loving. All bodies have a story, and those stories hold medicine for ourselves and our place within community.

Concepts my work and practice explores:
These concepts are basic understandings and language that accesses core dynamics of embodied connections I have collected from my education, personal practice, and professional experiences as an artist, healer, community member, and guide who cycles with herself and the flow of life. Continued education and exposure to healing modalities, performance practices, sacred circles, somatic psychology, orienting to systems awareness and navigating the channels between science-based research and mystic experiences further develop my work and approach to community, service, possibility, and P L A Y. ~MhM |
What I am doing...
My work and processes explore the space of and between my personal practice as a performing artist, creator, and healing arts practitioner in relation to the practical and spiritual experience of harmonizing the dance of intimacy between Creative Channel and Embodied Witness. This is the integration of masculine & feminine creative principals - yin and yang - depth and lightness - grief and joy - the alchemical synthesis of polarity energetics and intimacy as play. Intentionally aligning with practices that offer spacial relationship to where creativity meets catharsis. An invocation of the flowering process of inevitable truth. All bodies, regardless of s*xual identity and expression hold polarity, and we can find ways to relate within ourselves and with one another in this dance of intimacy.
It is here where I experience the center of creativity as a reflection of what it means to be an artist as synonymous with being a co-creative human. It is here where I feel and sense personal and universal truths connect. It is here where I practice failing brilliantly and flying fluidly with all the beauty of my personal flaws and invite you to practice with me - dancing into your own unique radiance and magnetic ease.
